A natural location choice for them, the tall trees, the lake—it was all just right. They wanted their shoot to feel authentic and timeless, and this provided the ideal backdrop for that vibe. Mackenzie shared she had seen how I work at weddings and loves how I get along with everyone. Though they’ve known each other for over a decade, it’s only been 2.5 years since they leaped from friends to partners. Their journey began at Rafferty’s Pizza, where they both worked and discovered a shared passion for skiing. Their bond grew stronger, fueled by their adventurous spirits and zest for life. They didn’t see the need to wait to tie the knot. A Fall wedding was their dream, and they were eager to make it a reality. I can’t wait for their fall 2024 wedding at Madden’s Resort in Minnesota. For their outdoor engagement shoot, they aimed for a timeless aesthetic, reflecting the joy they find in each other’s company.

I recently captured a special moment for this lovely couple during a unique boat engagement session. We were on Blake’s fishing boat, set against the backdrop of Anna Maria Island in Tampa Bay, where the waters meet the Gulf of Mexico. Their story is as beautiful as the scenery—meeting and quickly realizing they were meant for each other, culminating in a heartfelt proposal just a few months later. Their shared love for cruising and fishing made the boat session all the more meaningful, allowing us to capture their Florida engagement photos doing what they love most.

Having visited this area before, my husband and I had the pleasure of meeting Blake during a memorable fishing trip, an experience we’ve since repeated a few times. I vividly recall the excitement when my husband reeled in a tiger shark, a first for Blake’s boat if I remember correctly—a core memory for us. When organizing this styled session, Blake and I worked together to ensure it reflected their unique style and personalities. I was touched that they valued my photography style and editing approach.

Blake is a licensed US Coast Guard master captain and the head guide for AMI Charters. They cherish their time together on the water, with most of their free time spent there, often enjoying the view from the tower. This inspired us to create a shoot with a relaxed, fun, cozy, and classic vibe. The session was a peaceful and “homey” experience for them. You could feel how they are a perfect fit for each other as they are so comfortable and full of love. It unfolded in a relaxed atmosphere, with music in the background, storytelling, and laughter filling the air. We started from the landing and cruised to various channels to capture these special moments.
